IE locks up after I want to go to another web site.?

I am running XP media edition. It first started when I opened IE it would open for a second then shut down. I download IE7CR1 from the Microsoft web site and upgraded to that ver.. It allowed me to open IE but would lock up. I removed Ver. 7 thru add/remove program and reinstalled IE ver 6. At this time I can do anything in Yahoo web site, but if try to change to any other web site by the address bar it opens another IE and locks up the the second IE. If I do a search thru Yahoo search say to MSN. I can jump to MSN web site thru the search results. Any Ideas before I do a complete software reload?

You CAN do a software reload, but before you do, have you considered trying a different program rather than IE? Personally I have been using Mozilla Firefox for the past 2 years and have NEVER had a single problem with lock-ups or anything of the like. It also has really good built in features like a Pop-up Blocker, which is really good for ensuring that those annoying pop-ups like "Congratulations, You have won..." etc. Other things include different themes so that you can make Mozilla look as pretty or as boring as you like. I could keep going with this all day, but I dont want to bore you too much. Besides, I'm sure that you get the picture.
