Ie/ei spelling rule sentence?

Okay, I know the "I before E" poem by heart. But there was a sentence in one of my spelling books that had all the *exceptions* in it, and it started:

"Neither weird species of financier..."

...or something like that. I want to know the whole thing because the ei/ie rule is the one I have the hardest time with. There are so many exceptions. Can anybody help?

Neither financier seized either weird species of leisure.

I think you were trying to get either this:

Neither financier seized either weird species of leisure.

or this:

Neither sheik dared leisurely seize either weird species of financier.

and probably not this:

Any beings decreeing such ogreish, albeit nonpareil,

homogeneity must be nucleic protein-deficient from sauteing

pharmacopoeial caffeine and codeine!

(even though it contains even more of the exceptions!!)

However, you might find this useful as it is in rhyme form and thus a little easier to remember:

“I” before “E” except after “C”

Or when sounded like “A”, as in “neighbor” and “weigh”

Except “seize” and “seizure”, and also “leisure”,

“Weird”, “height” and “neither”, “forfeit” and “either”.

Good luck!

How to delete IE(all present versions) PERMANENTLY from my PC ?

Pl. read these details before answering :

1. I WANT to delete Internet Explorer. Pls don't tell me to get another browser like Firefox or Opera since I'm already using them.

2. I tried with "Add or Remove Programs" but that only deleted my IE 7. So now I've got IE 5 still installed.

3. I also tried with "Add or Remove Windows Components" but everything including Media Player and Accessories got uninstalled. Then i had to do a system restore.

Please help ASAP.

Thanks in advance !

If you're talking about Windows XP or newer, then you just can't do it. I've looked into it and tried several times. The Windows Explorer system shell and various programs such as Outhouse Express and Windows Media Player (WIMP) use the same DLLs as Internet Exploiter. You would break the O.S. if you went around deleting IE files and registry keys. I've gotten away with deleting the Internet Explorer folder under PROGRAM FILES, but if you open up any explorer window and type in a URL in the address bar or in the START -%26gt; RUN box, IE will still work and it isn't really gone. There are programs such as 2000Lite, 98Lite, and IEradicator which can truly disintegrate Internet Explorer from Windows 2000 and older versions, though. Just delete the IE icon and associate all shortcuts and HTML files with whatever browser you prefer to install. On a similar note, Windows Media Player cannot be completely removed from XP or Vista either.

Because IE (5, 6, or 7) is so tightly integrated with Microsoft Windows, it is nearly impossible to remove it entirely from a computer. In fact, other programs which need to do HTML access or parsing will break if you remove the IE .dll libraries.

This is only one of the reasons that Microsoft was successfully accused of monopolistic practices when compared to other browser companies.
ok when you install another browser it should ask if you want it as your primary browser you should say yes and also when you open up some programs it will open in IE because it is programmed for it you might have to deal with it IE is supposed to be there i guess

I installed firefox a few days ago and made it my default browser, but then I noticed IE was not working right anymore, so I uninstalled firefox thinking this would fix IE. But now when I open an IE page I get the home page (yahoo) and all I can do is click links on the home page to go to pages (i.e. yahoo answers). But if I try to go to any other website, i.e. by typing an address into the address bar and go to that address, I get "application not found." I have done several system restores, but each time it said the system could not be restored. I also did a virus scan and went to tools and chose reset browser and checked the box that said check if IE is my default browser, and also went to add/remove programs, chose set program access and defaults, chose custom and set internet explorer as the default, then I rebooted, but I still get "application not found." Why am I getting this message in IE and how can I fix it? Thanks. 10 points.

That's why I advise people not to install Firefox - it's too buggy and unstable. Firefox must have messed with the system and disabled something.

Resintall IE7 : http://microsoft.com/ie7

Download IE7 Pro. Free addon that boosts IE7 with features like extra scripts, spell check, adBlocker, Tab History, etc. All in one package. Free and safe to use : http://ie7pro.com/

That should help a bit. It might work.

To be safe. Download internet explorer (6 or 7) and save it on a folder you know where to find. Close all running programs and browser as well. Then go to control panel - add/remove programs and uninstall which ever ineternet explorer you have there. If your PC prompts you to restart, do it. After, go to the IE you downloaded and install. After it's up and running go to microsoft and manually search %26amp; dowload the latest updates for your PC (in case the windows updates site is not installing the updates). I included this as a precaution. Anyway, right after your new IE is installed it should already be fine.

I personally recommend not installing IE7 as of yet. Release candidates can always do harm to your computer.

Firefox uses a Windows process inside what we call a "library". That DLL file, which can be needed by Firefox, may have been altered and made unreadable by your installation of IE7.

I would recommend uninstalling IE7 and re-installing Firefox.

You may need to set program access and defaults.
that shouldnt happen, check for any viruses or call a representative

IE 7 security problem?

I recently installed an application on our webserver that uses https. It works fine in IE 6, but in IE 7 this page is displayed:

Internet Explorer cannot display the web page

Most likely causes are:

You are not connected to the internet

The website is experienceing problems

There might be a typing error in the address

It works fine in IE 6, what do I do to get it to work in IE 7?

Thanks.

IE7 was about 5 years in the making. Microsoft didn't feel the need to share information with other developers about the coding that would be used in IE7, etc. As a result, a whole lot of incompatibility exists. You might find this website interesting reading, especially the "known issues" section and the part about how to get sites that don't recognize IE7 to work:

Try by opening the menus: Tools%26gt;Internet options.

Once there, you should get a "Internet options" window. In the

"General" tab, Look for and click the "Settings" button right to the Tabs area. The "Tab browsing settings" window should appear, select there the most convenient options for you and finally click "OK". Good luck.

IE Explorer 7 crashing on one user but not another?

I normally use Firefox, but for some sites I need to use IE Explorer for some reason. Today my IE Explorer 7 stopped working - it just crashes with an error report message. I did a fresh reinstall, but the problem persists. I wondered if it was a Norton Internet Security 2007 problem.

What is odd though is that if I switch to another user account on my XP Pro machine, IE Explorer 7 seems to be running fine. But when I switch back to my regular user account it crashes again.

Are there some kind of settings I can just delete?

Thanks in advance.

For troubleshooting, you can disable all 'add-ons' (tools, manage add-ons). You can also go to internet options (tools, internet options), click the advanced tab, and uncheck "enable 3rd party browser extensions". The first option may not be available depending on how quickly IE crashes but the second can be done through internet options in the control panel.
